The Photo Album

Out of all the things from my childhood memories, I love my childhood photo album. I got it when I was younger (about 6 or 7). Parents gave it to me for Christmas. I keep my photo album under my bed so I don’t lose it because sometimes I can misplace things, and I don’t want to misplace this. The people who are in it is my sister, my 2 cousins (from my moms side), my mom, my dad, and I. I have this so I can save my memories from when I was baby/kid and from when my other family was younger too. I am probably gonna get a bigger photo album and put my memories from when I was in middle school until I am an adult so I can have those memories forever with me. That is why my favorite childhood memory is  my photo album.

Trouble Maker (By: Andrew Clements)

Have you ever reapeatedly got in trouble at school? Well if you have you can very much relate to Clay Hensley. The book I read is called “Trouble Maker,” by Andrew Clements. The book is about a boy named Clay Hensley and he is one of the “Cool kids” in his grade because he gets in trouble a lot. He is always in the Principles office for bad things and simple things. One day in art class Clay decided to draw a photo of a donkey with a mustache and glasses to represent the principal. Well of course he got caught and there is some bad things that happen because of that one drawing that almost everyone in his grade saw. Clay’s brother comes home from jail one day and changes Clay’s whole life around. I don’t want to spoil it all but that was just a quick summary of the book “Trouble Maker”. This book is a chapter book, it has 141 pages and the chapters are short. I think this book is for kids who are in middle school because it is a short book and middle schoolers can relate to it more, (by the way Clayton Hensley is in 6th grade). I hope by reading this you read this book because for my liking it is a good book and it is a crazy 6th grade school year for Clay Hensley.

1 quarter down, 3 to go!

  • This quarter has been pretty good for me. I like my classes (mostly because the people who are in it), even though I do talk to my friends, I still get my work done. I think my grades are going to be pretty good this quarter because I complete them with good constancy and quality. In quarter 2 I can be succeful by not missing any of my assignments and completing them with good quality. I am good in class behavior wise, I do talk to my friends but I don’t get in trouble for it because as long as I do my work my teachers don’t really have a problem with it. I joined the schools girls basketball team and I didn’t get any detentions so I played all the games. I am also going to join the schools girls volleyball team, and the softball team (for boys and girls). Quarter one is usually the worst quarter for me becuase it’s the first quarter of your new grade and I have to get used to the new stuff I am learning and what standards I have to be at for each class. Well, that was how quarter 1 went and how I am going to improve in my future quarters.

Movie Vs. Book - The Outsiders

There are a lot of similarities to The Outsiders movie and The Outsiders book. One similarity from the movie and the book is that Cherry told Ponyboy “It's rough all over”. Another similarity is that in the movie Ponyboy says the same poem (nothing gold can stay), just like he said in the book. Also, in the movie the Socs jumped Ponyboy and Johnny by the fountain in the park, and the Socs drown Ponyboy. Another similarity is, in the movie Johnny says the same thing to Ponyboy, “I killed him Pony”, and Johnny also kills him with a knife because the Socs were drowning Ponyboy (as he claims), (just like in the book). The last similarity the book and the movie have (even though they have way more) is that Johnny died when Dally and Ponyboy was in the hospital talking to him, and Dally died because of the gunshots from the cops. Those are the similarities that the Outsiders book and movie have.

There are some differences to The Outsiders movie and The Outsiders book. One difference is that in the book Ponyboy describes Johnny as white/pale, but in the movie Johnny is tan. Another difference is that in the movie it shows that Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy’s parents died in a train accident, but in the book Ponyboy says that their parents died in a car crash. Also, in the book Ponyboy says that Darry slapped him then he ran away, but in the movie Darry actually pushed him then he ran away. Another difference is that in the book Ponyboy says that before Johnny and Dally come in the church they do a whistle that the Greasers do to basically let each other know that it's them, but in the movie they don't do that. Also, in the book when Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally were in the hospital after the fire, there were reporters that talked/tried to talk to Ponyboy at the hospital, but in the movie after they went to the hospital, Darry and Sodapop picked Ponyboy up and took him straight to their house without talking to any reporters. The last difference from the book and the movie is that: in the book Two-bit and Ponyboy talked to Johnny’s mom in the hospital, but in the movie, they just mentioned they Johnny’s mom was there but Two-bit and Ponyboy didn't see or talk to her. Those are the differences that the Outsiders book and movie have.

The director for the movie did a pretty good job. I liked the people who played the characters, but they could have did better on their acting. But the movie was back in the day and the maybe that's how they were supposed to act. I really like the movie and the book but I would just say for my liking I like the book a tad better because it had more detail in it. But I also really like the movie because they acted the scenes out and they did it good. That's what I think about the director and the actors of the movie.

Herd Behavior And The Outsiders Connections

The second text is called “Herd Behavior” by CommitLitStiff. This short story is about what a herd is, what types of herds do, and how they act. This connects to The Outsiders because in Herd Behavior they talk about how there are different types of herds and how they stick in a pack just like the Socs and Greasers do. Also they would never leave each other and that what the Socs and Greasers would do too. That was basically what the short story (Herd Behavior) was about and how it was some what connected to the book The Outsiders. One piece of evidence that supports how they are connected is: In Herd Behavior they talk about how people in groups usually follow what other people do in the groups, and in The Outsiders book, Some of the people in the Socs are actually nice and think differently than the actual bad boys in the group, but they all tough in front of one another. Another piece of evidence that supports how they are connected is: In Herd Behavior they also talk about how if a family or a group sees more people doing one thing or going to a place more than another thing or places, then the family or group would go to where more people are at. But also in The Outsiders for the Greasers and the Socs, some people in each of the groups have a soft side/nice side, but since other people on the groups do bad stuff, they copy them so they don't feel alone or left out. Herd Behavior and The Outsiders have a lot in common because since each of the gangs will always be together and won't leave each other's sides, and that's exactly what herd’s do, so that's why this shorts story and the book have a lot of things in common. That is how the short story “Herd Behavior” and the book The Outsiders have a lot of similarities to them (connections).
